Day 13 declutter challenge

Today I finished working on the file cabinet area – for now. There’s still more to do but 1 week was perfect because I’m starting to loose steam for focusing on this area.

Today I spent 15 minutes and:

  • Went through the remaining files, pulling out those most likely to contain stuff I no longer needed
  • Recycled 10 papers: notes from old classes I took and articles that I no longer want to keep

When I come back to the files later, the work that remains to be done is reviewing printed articles for ones I have electronically and recycling those, looking through the really old files (college papers!), and simplifying the notes related to current projects. I also have a box of stationary supplies to go through. And I’ll want to find a place to donate all the empty file folders I’m left with.

I learned: 1 week per area works well for me. Even if it’s not finished in a week, I’m ready for a change at that point. I can come back later with fresh motivation and focus.

Tomorrow: the closet!
